Two deck proposals can look similar on price but describe very different projects. Understand what makes quotes different — and what a complete proposal should include.
The visible boards are only one part of project cost. Two quotes for the same deck may differ by thousands of dollars because they include — or exclude — foundation work, framing upgrades, water protection, permitting, equipment, insurance, supervision and warranty coverage.
A lower quote is not automatically a better value. It may exclude scope that will surface as a change order, use lower-grade materials, skip structural reinforcement or omit permit and inspection coordination.
